The Asus XG Station is announced all the way back in 2007, but you could not buy one anywhere. In this week’s presentation of the grievance XG Station on external looks like 7900GT sports-graphics device May never see the light of day - but we can hope his successor.
The station connects to an ExpressCard slot, which means that almost any computer manufactured this side of 2003 should be able to use it. Curiously for a product bearing the Republic of players branding graphics card inside is not what you might call high-end, as it is a mere 256 MB nVidia GeForce 8600 - even if it is to overclockable using a line on the first device.
The choice of relatively underwhelming graphics chip is not the end of the world. Although many laptops already have an equivalent (or even better) GPU inside, even more, or simply integrated graphics, and often only one VGA output. The complaint XG Station sports dual DVI output and, furthermore, has also quite impressive audio capabilities: Dolby technology, such as Dolby Headphone (5.1 virtual sound), Dolby Digital Live and Dolby Pro Logicllx.
Even more features are added by the inclusion of four USB 2.0 ports and the button above that, in addition to controlling the speed of the GPU, also provides access to the speed of rotation, Dolby modes and various other parameters. In addition, a reading LCD provides information such as frame rate, GPU temperature and speed of rotation.
Unfortunately, our contacts Asus tell us that there is still debate about whether the complaint XG Station actually sold in the United Kingdom. I hope someone will do the decent thing and overseeing the nay-Sayers.
