HP announced the shipment of the HP xw8600 and HP xw9400 high-end workstation computers for digital content professionals in broadcasting, film and video post-production, animation and graphic arts industries.

The workstation xw8600 features up to two quad-core Intel Xeon processors X5482 with a 1600 MHz front side bus to 800 MHz and memory, HP’s scalability and reliability. On the other hand, HP workstation xw9400 includes a choice of three new Quad-Core AMD Opteron 2300.

The two new workstations are listed on Electronic Products Environmental Assessment Tool (EPEAT) However, the highest rating available.

Depending on user needs, the HP xw8600 and xw9400 workstations can be equipped with Windows XP or Vista.

For better sound quality, xw8600 and xw9400 offers an optional Sound Blaster X-Fi XtremeGamer Audio Card.

Pricing and availability information for the new HP xw series workstations are not available at this time.
