The Touch is an amazing piece of technology. Mobile Safari is the best browser around portable Cover Flow works very well on a device with a storage capacity limited, and the Wi-Fi iTunes Music Store is extremely smooth for a first generation of products.
Almost all the characteristics of the iPhone has now returned to the iPod Touch. The Touch is available in 8GB ($ 299), 16 GB ($ 399) and 32 GB ($ 499) capacities. At 0.31 inches deep, it is much thinner than the iPhone, but it has the same 802.11b / g wireless. In addition, it features the same 3.5-inch screen Multitouch: 480 by 320 pixels resolution. The only button on his face display the main menu, a small button on top of the camera turns the device on and off.
The only bit of hardware missing from the phone are iPhone (including microphone and speakers that go with it), the device, and volume knobs and lock switch on the side. The non-standard earpiece, which prevents you from plugging most earphones directly into the iPhone, went as follows: The standard connector for headsets will adapt very well to the touch.
Meanwhile, the tap, scrolling, and a pinch of gestures that make the iPhone pleasant to use as well on the Touch.
The iPod Touch the beautiful interface all contribute to the screen which is easily attractive player the most fun that I tested. Cover Flow, Apple unique touch-based interface to browse albums on your player, plays much better on the Touch on the iPod Nano or iPod classic. Album art loads so effective that it is almost impossible to overcome it and force the player on-screen graphics display gray placeholder while the player catches up.
I have instructed my test unit with a library of the scale of “best of” reading, as well as some classical CDs and the latest 20 or so albums that I ripped. My favorite new trick: I put the “best of” playlist on shuffle and let it play until I hear something I have not heard for a long time. When I make a quick tap from the list of songs on album allows me to go back and enjoy this disc.
Apple iTunes Music Wi-Fi works fine store as well. Its search function updates while you type, help you navigate through the good artist, album, song title or with a minimum of typing. If you have an iTunes Music Store, you can buy songs directly from the camera on his Touch’s Wi-Fi Connection. (This feature is available to users and iPhone.) Runs download as fast as your connection can handle, and they are immediately playable. And the next time you synchronize the player, these songs will be downloaded to your PC’s music library.

Like the iPhone, the iPod Touch sounds similar to the latest generation of iPod Nano, except that in my tests, the Touch did not play very well with many high-end headphones. The problem disappeared when I used an attenuator (a small adapter that came with my Ultimate Ears Super.fi 5 Pros), but I prefer not having to plug an adapter into the drive.
One of my favorite things to do on the iPhone is to be able to play videos on its superb 3.5 inch screen. Touch and the iPod allows you to watch videos at resolutions up to 640 x 480 pixels in both H.264 and MPEG-4 compression.
Safari is still the best mobile Web browser I have ever used - and it works fine on the iPod Touch, unless you are trying to multitask.
If you start to music, and tap your way to Safari to make the Wi-Fi-enabled Web browsing, you may encounter problems. Often, when I open a page or complex of a second tab, Touch stopped playing music, forcing me to leave the main screen, press the button in addition to music, and restart ‘audio. I also experienced crashes after loading sometimes as many as three or more pages.
The implementation of the calendar app is a bit confused, too: Even if you can synchronize calendar events that your PC, you can not produce on the Touch or add new events.
A recent software update adds five new applications for the iPod Touch. All five had already appeared on iPhone: Mail, Maps, Stocks, Weather, and Notes.
The update also adds the ability to rent movies from iTunes, rearrange the icons, to display lyrics, and graphic cards you request an apartment. Apple will install the update on the new iPod buttons prior to shipment, but users who already have a Touch will have to pay $ 20 for the accessory.
The iPod Touch is superbly designed and incredibly fun to use. He still suffers from some performance hiccups, but I was more than happy to recommend it to people looking for a video player mobile, portable Web browser, or a high-class way to cart around the highlights of your music library.
