Convergence is generally regarded as a good thing - especially when done well. That said, for those who are proud of the size of their pockets bulge (which does come out wrong?) Should find something interesting in this lightly …
Taking more than a few visual queues of Viewty, LG new PMP brings much of what is there without all tomfoolery-phone stuff.
Accordingly, the “T80″ 3in sports a 400 x 240 native resolution touchscreen, reasonably large video and audio codec (including MP3, WMA, Ogg and Mpeg4), an FM tuner, just 98.5 x 55.5 x 13.1mm the T80 isn ‘t too fat and weighs only 81g. In addition, it adds the premium on-board storage and mobile television.
Unfortunately, however, where the problems begin. Edge is a place of storage of garbage 4GB (less than most decent multimedia devices) and the mobile TV comes courtesy of the DVB-T, then we are talking FreeView not true DVB-H, which is the official standard Handheld TV for Europe.
Even more troubling is the price tag of € 299, which - given the combined as Viewty and N95 come free on most contracts decent monthly - is prohibitive to say the least. Indeed, even high-end dedicated PGR like Apple’s iPod touch from £ 199 for a model of 8 GB - mobile television canceled - wipe the floor with her.
LG So yes the T80 would have been nice in theory in 2006, but we are now in 2008 and - quite frankly - the world has changed …
