LG KF700 is a tri-band GSM with 3G support in particular HSDPA. It has 90MB of user memory and a microSD card slot on its upper edge. I had my examination of the sample which O2 exclusively launch.

As the last combined LG During the examination, KF600, KF700 is a slider. The dimensions of the two phones are very similar. This time, we have a mobile phone which is 102mm high, 51mm wide and 14.5 mm thick. It weighs 104g. This is remarkably similar to the KF600 of 101mm x 51mm x 14mm x 107g.

What makes the distinctive KF700, LG said, it has three input methods. First, we have a touch screen. No surprise there, really, because touchscreens are in vogue at the moment and LG has fully accepted the idea with recent offerings.

Unlike the novel InteractPad second screen on the KF600, however, the touch screen used here is more run of the mill. It is only in front of a screen, a generous measure 3in diagonally, 34 mm wide and 67mm high. It is 240 pixels wide, but its height hosts 480 pixels. It is a little more pixels high that they were managed in the Viewty, which launched last year.

The screen gives you a little vibration feedback when you press its icons, which helps to confirm that you actually made a selection. It is always a pleasant feature on a touch screen mobile.

The design of the user interface is very intuitive, which should help those who are not fond of reading textbooks. Who is just as well, really, that my sample of O2 does not have a printed manual or on a CD.

On the main screen, there are several areas tappable. The other side of the bottom row are four icons that you quickly call to history and video call screen, contacts, messaging and phone menu. Beyond this line O2 is a registered touchbutton you can use to get on the Web.

The status icons sit in a row at the top of the screen. They are small, but you can click anywhere on the top screen area to open a “summary” screen which shows you the level of cells and the connection speed and allows you to change the profile, go in the flight mode, flick the music player and reactivate Bluetooth and outside (no Wi-Fi here).

It is a sliding panel that affects icon is on the right side of the screen. Hit and you can see the date, analog and digital clocks, and what looks like a white yellow Post-It. Press the note and you can write a memo, press on the calendar and you can view appointments, press the clock to the main menu organizes icons into four groups with telephone and email in a group, multimedia equipment in a otherwise, the organization of the Internet and personal stuff in the third and parameters in the fourth. Four icons are going down the right side of the screen let you switch between groups.

It is a lock button on the right side - and you have to use it if you want to avoid things happen accidentally while you carry around this phone.

The two other input methods are rather less exciting. A bog is the standard keyboard which is revealed when you slide the screen up. The keyboard is flat and the keys together. We were very well with it. The call, Finish and Cancel keys are also here, but you can open voice and video calls on the touchscreen.

The other input method is a novel and LG is the shortcut Dial. On the back of the phone is a band wheel that stands out from the rest of the envelope of black plastic. It is well placed to raise your left thumb.

You press a button next meeting immediately beneath it on the left edge of the phone and a carousel appears onscreen with the five options that you can scroll if using the wheel. You select what you want by pressing the button side or tapping the screen. It is a sixth option that lets you change the settings to suit your preferences. When you turn on the carousel, the screen you had previously lost in the background but does not disappear. It is OK as a feature film, What makes this phone a winner is the big screen flicks landscape format to make the most of its 480 pixels at times useful. You can use wide for navigation on the Web, for example, and switching is a simple matter to call an icon. You can drag a fingertip to scroll a Web page and user Shortcut Dial wheel to zoom. While browsing photos, which are listed big screen, you can scroll through a sequence by dragging the screen and use the keyboard shortcut Dial wheel to zoom. While it works fairly well, but it does not feel quite as good as the touch screen on the standard setting iPhone.

It is an avant-face camera for two-way video calling, and the principal has a 3-megapixel camera with autofocus lens and a flash. LG has done better with 5-megapixel cameras, and one is passable but not wonderful.

The auto is a bit slow to operate and it has yet to deliver on-the-spot results. The flat color, for example, photographed inside in the light of households is not as strong as I would have liked. The same goes for the hanging basket with a good colour reproduction, but some blur in the image itself. The President of flagrante whiteness causes some problems for camera phones, but here the salient points are more controlled than others, despite heavy softening and a bluish tone.

It is a music player good, and the headset, while the owners telephone at the end, is two parts so that you can use your own headphones 3.5 mm if you prefer. Other applications include an FM radio, including messaging mobile e-mail, voice recorder, task list, calculator, world clock, unit converter and a stopwatch.
