We first heard about MSI, the next Eee PC rival, the wind, back at CeBit society representatives, but were rather stifling silence on the details. While MSI is not completely break his silence again, the company has conducted some of the features more formal.
Sizes 8.9in screen and 10in will be available, probably with slight variations in the chassis dimension too, with resolutions of 1024 x 600 - matching the 900 PC Eee. MSI as touts LED illuminated giving improved battery life, among other improvements in technology.
The interior of the processor choice is still undetermined, but there is much speculation that this will be a chip Atom. We do now know that rather than using SSD storage as Eee PC, a 2.5in, HDD 80 GB will be used for the Wind. Let us hope that the reduction in the cost of non-use solid-state drives will be reflected in the price.
Operating system wise MSI has informed us that he will propose to XP and Linux configurations. This is contrary to popular belief that suggested XP would be proposed. Price wise we say we wait around £ 200-300 depending on the SKU chosen. The official release will be at Computex in June, so as to the lookout on the horizon.
