The fans like me know that if you want the best of a PC, you must build it yourself. But what if you buy a notebook? OCZ May have the solution, as defined in the offer games DIY OCZ Notebook. Uninspired name slightly to one side, it is a principle interesting, but what does this mean for you and me, and how is OCZ differentiates itself from the Dells and Alienwares World - or not at all?
A 15.4in chassis with a brilliant 1280 x 800 resolution is not among the most promising of starts, especially if it is supported with a 512 MB nVidia 8600M GT - not a bad combination by any means whatsoever, but really nothing out of the ordinary. Elsewhere things a bit, with a full range of component options to complement fixed. The USP of the OCZ system is that you correspond to those in the chassis yourself.
Standard options HDD 80 GB to 320 GB are available with solid state disk of 32 GB to 128GB - is the consideration of this OCZ, you may want to consider the OCZ 64 GB SATA II DSS for the ultimate in performance.
Put a DSS in a system with the specifications of this is fairly close to the very definition of too much, however, and the money would be better to put a rival notebook with a GPU faster. Other features include USB ports that can be powered when the system is turned off - as seen on the zepto Znote 3415W which shares the same chassis. The price has not yet been revealed, but OCZ says that because the parties are self-purchased and installed the price should be much lower than an equivalent store-bought laptop. This is certainly an interesting idea, but I would not speculate as to whether it capture.
