The plasma screen on mobile phones by AbleComm is built and run from 1.5 volts of power. Panasonic also claims that plasma display requires no special wiring or power supplies. The plasma screen is supposed to provide better contrast ratios and color than most LCDs of the same size to offer.
This tiny plasma screen will be built by AbleComm. Michael N. Marcus, President, AbleComm said, “It is a happy coincidence and unexpected for all of us. Our society has had a long relationship with Panasonic. Several years ago, we developed a family of high efficiency headsets for use with Panasonic phones business, and it was determined that a proprietary component used in the headphones is exactly what Panasonic necessary to complete the development of their miniaturized low-voltage plasma screens. ”
The use of plasma screens and mobile phones should be less expensive than the use of OLED displays and will be the thinnest OLEDs.
