We have heard that Samsung needs growth of its laptop and that companies an aggressive strategy has been put forward for achieving this growth. Looking at his latest notebook prototype, it seems safe to say the company is not making idle promises.
A 12in AMOLED display is the center of attention, boasting a 1280 x 768 resolution in addition to all the usual advantages of this display technology. A contrast ratio of 20 times higher than conventional LCDs is claimed, which is certainly remarkable, even if it is likely compared with cold cathode backlit screens, rather than those which are illuminated by LED.
Improved manufacturing process means that the production of AMOLED screens should be much more to a more reasonable level than before. Without doubt notebook panel production benefits from R & D set Samsung OLED TV panels.
As a super-thin screen prototype of the machine also has a touch keyboard, once to help keep sizes. Unfortunately the demo is not a representation of what Samsung will produce, but rather that the OLED technology could and should allow the industry as a whole to reach by using it. This includes both Samsung and others using its expert panels.
I can say my interest is well and truly whetted. It’s really a look in the future.
