Sony has finally announced the long-rumoured Sony PSP overhauled during its E3 2007 press conference, writes James Yu, GameSpot. A recent update patents has raised speculation that the new PSP would have a swivel screen and mobile phone capabilities, but Sony Computer Entertainment president Kaz Hirai showed a more modest redesign PSP at E3.
The new enhanced-design “PSP is a small and thin version of the original, with one third less weight - 189g - and about four-fifths of the thickness (19mm only now). Sony plans to phase out the current PSP design and replace it with the new model of September. There is no final price UK yet for the new model, but it should be the same as the old version: £ 130.
The new weight is immediately apparent as soon as you hold the PSP in your hand. It is so light that you might think it lacks a battery or does not have a UMD disc inside. Sony has managed to reduce the size of the battery while maintaining the system for 5 hours battery life by reducing the power to bring unity. You’ll be able to use batteries, the PSP to double time Thursday, but the battery level will not be able to adapt above. Sony will offer a high-capacity power kit that will come with its own coverage to fit on the largest battery.
The difference is really low, but several colleagues have noticed that the D-pad and buttons on the new PSP provide a little more tactile feedback for a better touch. Other changes, we have seen UMD springless a mechanism for retention and new holes loudspeaker just above the D-pad and buttons.

The remote taken has changed - helmet is still work to the standard headphone, but the new systems come with a new headphone / remote to fit the new remote taken. The memory stick slot remains on the left side, moved a little more, but the Wi-Fi is moving past the left side of the system all the way up the unit where it is much harder to hit accidentally.
The 4.3-inch display remains the same, but the new unit will now include a video output that allows the PSP to the production of the game, films and photos to a TV display. The cable component, we saw also had audio connectors provide connectivity AV. The composite, S-Video and component cables will be sold separately (price to be announced). The PSP we tested was able to play a return Spider-Man 2 video to 640×480 pixels. The video on the big screen considered strong with a minimum loss.
Sony has doubled the construction of the integrated memory of 32 MB to 64 MB, and the new PSP will also be able to accelerate the time to load game data storage UMD in temporary memory. The new PSP will also be able to recharge over the data connection via USB.

The new PSP will be available in black piano, Ice and a Silver Star Wars limited edition ceramic white model with a picture of Darth Vader silkscreen on the backs of batteries. Sony currently has no plans to release a unit of white ceramic after the Star Wars edition sells, but it can always change.
